1. Why we publish this
We build AI systems for a living. We think anyone doing that should be clear about how they use AI themselves.
This statement explains where AI is used in our business, what governs it, and what that means for you as a client or website visitor. It is voluntary. We publish it because transparency is a principle we design into the systems we build, and it would be inconsistent not to apply it to ourselves.
2. Our position on AI
We treat AI as infrastructure, not novelty. That means:
- AI systems must be governed, observable, and auditable — not black boxes
- A human remains accountable for every consequential decision
- AI output is reviewed before it reaches a client
- Security and privacy are designed in from layer zero, not retrofitted
3. How we use AI in our own business
3.1 In delivering client work
We use AI-assisted tooling in software development, research, analysis, documentation, and content drafting. All output is reviewed, tested, and verified by a human before delivery. We are accountable for everything we deliver, regardless of the tools used to produce it.
3.2 In our internal operations
We use AI within our own internal systems for research, drafting, workflow orchestration, and operational tasks. These systems operate under human-in-the-loop governance — actions with meaningful consequences require human approval before execution.
3.3 On this website
Some content on this website has been drafted with AI assistance and reviewed and approved by us before publication. We do not use AI to make decisions about visitors, and this website does not use AI to profile you.
3.4 In handling your enquiry
Enquiries submitted through our contact form are read and responded to by a human. We do not use AI to automatically accept, reject, or score enquiries in a way that determines whether we engage with you.
4. Your data and AI
We want to be direct about this:
- We do not feed your personal information into public AI models for training.
- We do not use client confidential information to train any AI model.
- Where AI tooling is used in delivering your project, we use it in a manner consistent with our confidentiality obligations to you, and we will tell you if you ask.
If your engagement requires specific constraints on AI use — for example, no third-party model use, or fully self-hosted processing — tell us during scoping and we will accommodate it in the engagement terms.
5. AI in the systems we build for clients
When we design and build AI systems for clients, we apply the same principles:
- Human-in-the-loop approval for consequential actions
- Audit trails and explainability so decisions can be traced and defended
- Clear boundaries on what the system may and may not do autonomously
- Security and access controls designed in from the foundation
- Documentation so your team can understand, operate, and govern the system
We will not build a system designed to deceive people about whether they are dealing with a human, to make consequential decisions about individuals without oversight, or to operate in a way we consider unsafe or unlawful.
6. Limitations of AI
AI systems can produce output that is incorrect, incomplete, biased, or out of date. This is a property of the technology, not a defect we can fully engineer away.
That is precisely why we build governance, review, and audit into every system — and why any content on this website should be treated as general information rather than professional advice. See our Terms of Use.
7. Keeping this current
AI capability and Australian regulation are both moving quickly. We review this statement periodically and update it as our practices or the law change. The current version is always published here.
8. Questions
If you have a question about how we use AI — in our business or in a system we are building for you — ask us at hello@ceranovaai.com. We will give you a straight answer.
